What happens
Throckmorton P. Gildersleeve prepares his household for the arrival of his aunt, Hattie Forrester, who is due for a visit. Bertie is overworked by the chores, and Gildersleeve pitches in, sending Leroy off to sweep carpets while Leroy tries to finish a booby trap in the cellar. Marjorie and Keith struggle to harmonize their singing, and Gildersleeve's niece and nephew are soon left with little to do as Aunt Hattie settles in and begins to comment on the household. The Great Gildersleeve is the series, first broadcast by NBC on January 28, 1945, starring Harold Peary, Willard Waterman, Lillian Randolph and Lurene Tuttle.
The Gildersleeve home in Summerfield, on the day Aunt Hattie Forrester arrives for a visit.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
