What happens
Fred Allen hosts a Town Hall broadcast in the old town hall, mixing topical news items, music and comic sketches with his regular players. The program includes a satirical item on a department store clerk who treats a lone customer as a celebrity, a skit on a grocer's tea and a dinner-party bit at a restaurant run by Mandelbaum. Later, a sketch set at the Eureka Egg Company follows Mr. Allen, a self-styled egg magnate, as he meets a magazine writer and promotes his dated eggs. The transcript ends partway through this egg business sketch, so its resolution is not covered. This is the 1936 broadcast of the Fred Allen series, first aired on November 25, 1936, on CBS and NBC.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
