What happens

Fred Allen hosts his Town Hall Tonight variety program, a lively mix of comedy sketches, music and sponsor patter. Allen greets the audience and reads a mock town bulletin about a grocer's dog biscuits, then presents a Town Hall News segment with a ten-year-old boy editing a newspaper and a Minneapolis police officer's speeding ticket that ends up before a judge. Peter Van Steeden marks his first year on the program, and Portland Hoffa joins him for a light anniversary exchange. The evening closes with the Mighty Allen Art Players performing Sandy's Crime, a Scottish comedy about a man named Sunday McStuff and his wife Donald.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
