What happens

Fred Allen and his regular guests discuss the husband-and-wife money question, then the show turns to Beatrice Lillie, who visits Allen to talk about a new musical comedy she wants to take to London. Allen describes the show's plot, which centers on a treat-o girl in a pudding shop and a romance thwarted by her father, with songs set in a spring London morning. The broadcast on March 16, 1947 on CBS and NBC features Allen, Portland Hoffa, Kenny Delmar and Minerva Pious in the lead roles. Allen's own quarrel with the producers of another show over the play's material begins to take shape as the segment closes.

A radio variety show broadcast from a studio, with an audience-question segment and a visit to Beatrice Lillie's home in London-themed comedy.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
