What happens

Fred Allen opens an episode of his Town Hall Tonight program with a stream of comic bits: a news reel parody on a politician's beehive cleaning promise, a skit contrasting married life with and without electrical appliances, and a fake sporting scoop about the Kentucky Derby. Allen and his cast then play sketches about a vacation at a Catskills resort, a radio quiz night at a movie theater, and a fictional milk company's slogan contest. The transcript breaks off partway through the milk company sketch, where a returned bottle of sour milk threatens the slogan and the businessman's advertising deals.

A radio variety program staged as an old town hall, with sketches set in a Catskills resort, a theater, an advertising office, and a milk company.

Characters: Fred Allen, Portland Hoffa, Kenny Delmar, Minerva Pious, Harry Von Zell, Peter Van Steeden, Mr. Townsend, Mr. Cass

Listen for: The running comic sketches, especially the Catskills resort exchange and the milk company slogan sketch, where Allen's pompous businessman meets a sour bottle of milk.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
