What happens
Fibber McGee and Molly, a couple living at 79 West Provista, face a question of thrift when Fibber decides to clean his old straw hat instead of replacing it. Molly reacts with skepticism as he tries cleaning methods, including peroxide and a hairbrush, while a series of visitors, a Christmas card salesman, a seed peddler and the mayor, drop in with their own requests and opinions. Fibber's stubborn determination keeps the hat at the center of the household's troubles. The show, a 1942 episode of Fibber McGee and Molly on NBC Radio, first aired on April 28, 1942, with Harold Peary, Bill Thompson, Gale Gordon and Arthur Q. Bryan among the performers.

Listen for: Fibber's attempts to clean his straw hat with peroxide, a hairbrush and other household items, and the visitors who interrupt him
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
