What happens

Fibber McGee and Molly dress for a night out at a New Year's party. Fibber's tuxedo is worn and shiny, and he discovers an old ticket stub in its lining. Mr. Wimple returns from a trip and recites a poem, and neighbor Abigail Uppington is invited along but declines. Fibber and Molly head for the Cuba Libra and then for a dinner out, where Fibber's old tuxedo proves a source of amusement. The Johnson Wax program is heard throughout, promoting self-polishing glo-coat. The Mayor, Mr. Wilcox and the children all appear as the evening unfolds.

The McGee home at 79 Wistful Vista, then a night club and restaurant in town on New Year's Eve.

Characters: Fibber McGee, Molly McGee, Mr. Wimple, Mrs. Uppington, Mayor LaTrivia, Mr. Wilcox, Teddy

Listen for: Fibber's tuxedo jokes and the ticket stub in its pocket lining, plus the restaurant scene where the couple tries to get a dance in.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
