What happens

Fibber McGee and Molly spend the week before Christmas at their home at 79 Wistful Vista, with Fibber grumbling about the commercial rush while Molly tries to keep him in good spirits. Fibber's neighbour Mrs. Abigail Uppington drops by, and the children from across the street, including a girl with a tricycle, call at the house to sing Christmas carols. Fibber is reluctant to hear them, and the household is pulled between holiday shopping, the neighbourhood kids and visitors. The episode is from the Fibber McGee and Molly series, first broadcast on NBC Radio on December 22, 1942, with Harold Peary, Bill Thompson, Gale Gordon and Arthur Q. Bryan in the cast.

The McGee home at 79 Wistful Vista, and the neighbourhood around it, in the week before Christmas, 1942

Characters: Fibber McGee, Molly McGee, Mrs. Uppington, Billy Mills, Mr. Wilcox, Gildersleeve

Listen for: Fibber's running complaints about commercial Christmas, and the children's carol singing outside the house

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
