What happens
Fibber McGee and Molly tells of Fibber, who receives a set of carpenter's tools for Christmas and is urged by Molly to put them to use. Rather than fix the wobbly furniture, he decides to build a dog house, first calling a lumber company, where a phone conversation with a friend named Mert goes awry. Neighbors Mrs. Uppington and Mr. Gildersleeve drop by, and the building project soon turns into a lively contest over who gets to do the work. The episode aired on NBC Radio on January 2, 1940, with Harold Peary, Bill Thompson, Gale Gordon and Arthur Q. Bryan in the cast. Fibber tries his hand at the job with a mix of enthusiasm and mishaps, as the household's New Year mood fills the program.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
