What happens

Bud Anderson, a teenager in the Anderson household, is reluctant to attend a Valentine's Day party at Freddy Wilson's house and dislikes the idea of asking a girl to go with him. His father Jim and mother Margaret try to coax him into it. Bud eventually calls a girl, Eleanor Potter, but dials the wrong number, which sets off a series of confused calls and mistaken assumptions about who has agreed to go with whom. The family works through the tangle with rising frustration and some amusement. This is an episode of the radio series Father Knows Best, first broadcast on February 14, 1952, with Robert Young as Jim Anderson.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
