What happens
Father Knows Best follows the Anderson family of Maple Street. Margaret Anderson bakes a cake for no particular reason, and her daughter Kathy frets about being called chubby at school. Betty becomes convinced that a handwriting analysis proves she and Harvey Blake are a perfect match. Jim Anderson, meanwhile, buys a motor scooter at a bargain price, planning to give it to his son Bud, although Margaret has said the boy is not ready for one. Jim hides the scooter in the garage, and the family's efforts to keep it from Bud begin to strain the household. The episode is an early 1952 broadcast, and its cast is headed by Robert Young as Jim Anderson.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
