What happens
Jim Anderson promises his daughter Kathy a trip to the circus, but then his wife Margaret and the rest of the family are all busy with other plans. Jim tries to get out of the outing by faking a toothache with his friend Ed Davis, who has his own reasons for wanting Jim free that afternoon. The Anderson household in Springfield is in an uproar as the children, the parents and Jim's scheme all pull in different directions.
