What happens
Jim Anderson, an average father on Maple Street in Springfield, faces family trouble around the holidays. His daughter Betty loses her date for the New Year's Eve dance when Norman McEw breaks his leg, and she is upset. Jim wins a 35-pound turkey in a raffle, and the family finds itself with more turkey than it can use. Jim proposes a New Year's Eve party to use it up, and the plans grow larger than anyone expected, with the household struggling to keep up with costs and preparations. This is an episode of Father Knows Best, the series from 1950, broadcast on December 28, 1950. Robert Young plays Jim Anderson.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
