What happens

Escape presents The Voyages of Sinbad, adapted and directed by Antoine Ellis, with Ben Wright as Sinbad. Sinbad the Porter, a poor carrier of loads in Baghdad, rests outside a rich house and is invited in by Sinbad the Sailor, who recounts his voyages. Shipwrecked on an island, Sinbad marries a noble woman and settles there, but he learns of a grim local custom requiring a husband to be buried alive with his dead wife. The episode follows his ordeal in the underground cave of the dead, where he meets other unfortunate captives and faces a series of dangers.

Baghdad, and later an island kingdom with a custom of burying the living with the dead, including an underground well and cave of the dead

Characters: Sinbad the Porter, Sinbad the Sailor, Abdul, Sinbad's wife, Sinbad's neighbor, The king

Listen for: The story is told in Sinbad the Sailor's own voice as he recounts his travels to Sinbad the Porter, including the burial custom and his time in the cave

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
