What happens

Lili and the Colonel is an episode of the Escape series, first broadcast on May 3, 1953. Lieutenant Charles Temple, a patrolman in the Kenya Colony, is called to the farm of James Curry, who has been murdered by Mau Mau fighters. He brings along Colonel Abernathy, a respected settler, to help identify the body. Afterward Temple visits the Colonel's home, where he meets the Colonel's unhappy wife, Lily, and the household's servant, Gumbwe. Tensions with the local staff and growing fear of the Mau Mau begin to press on the household as the night wears on.

Listen for: Gumbwe's confrontation with the Colonel and the later events at the Abernathy house

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
