What happens
Poet John Webster meets Luis Carras, a bitter guitarist in a Mexican cantina in Cassorda, and their talk turns to love and hate. When Webster returns to his hotel, his wife Enes has been abducted, and her captors demand ten thousand dollars for her return. Webster must rely on Carras, the man who despises him, to reach the kidnappers. The story is part of the Escape series, first broadcast on April 19, 1953, with the lead roles played by Eddie Firestone as John Webster and Jack Crutchfield as Luis.

Listen for: The tense exchanges between Webster and Carras in the cantina, and the negotiations over the ransom
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
