He confides in Julie Spalding, a fellow passenger, and the two travel on together, while the tension between them and the strangers steadily rises. The episode is from the Escape series, first broadcast on April 12, 1953, and is written and directed by Antony Ellis.

A cross-country bus journey eastward from Los Angeles through Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado

Characters: Charlie Rader, Julie Spalding, Hutchinson, Lisa

Listen for: Charlie's confession to Julie at the breakfast counter and the tense exchange on the ridge above the valley

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
