What happens

Captain Daniel Hall commands the submarine USS Amberfish during her fourth war patrol in the East China Sea, a crew of 82 men aboard. After a long, fruitless patrol, the captain hunts a large enemy carrier escorted by destroyers. His attack draws a fierce depth-charge counterattack, and the crew must endure the heat, dwindling air and damage while the destroyer hunts them below the surface. The story of Escape's episode Pressure is told in a half-hour dramatization of this wartime submarine action. Escape, a radio anthology series, aired this episode on March 22, 1953, and William Conrad stars as the captain.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
