What happens

Five American prisoners of war in a German camp in late 1944 decide to escape as Allied forces approach. The men are Sergeant Mitch, Dutch, Sapperstein, Cursio, and the sergeant narrating the story. Young Mitch, who is frightened and unwell, insists on joining them. Escape is a radio drama, first aired on December 14, 1952, and this episode is titled Four Went Home. Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
