What happens
Mr. Fotheringay, a placid villager, finds himself in an argument at the Long Dragon bar with Toddy Beamish over whether miracles are possible. After a lamp inexplicably turns upside down, Fotheringay begins to suspect he may have a power beyond ordinary explanation. Alone in his room, he tests it further, lighting a candle with a pointed finger and setting off a dispute with his landlady, Mrs. Tetherington. The story is adapted from H. G. Wells' The Man Who Could Work Miracles and aired on the Escape series on December 31, 1950.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
