What happens
Gil, a drifter who has come to Bayside on the California coast, witnesses a car plunge off a cliff after a near collision with a cream-colored sedan. The driver, a nervous woman named Bell Gassner, insists she was alone and quickly sends him on his way. Gil stays in town, learns that her husband Frank Gassner, who runs a gambling house, has been missing, and begins to suspect what happened. He confronts Bell and uses the knowledge to extract money and control from her, while building a scheme around the gambling business. The story is the Escape episode 'Something for Nothing,' broadcast on April 28, 1950, adapted from H. V. Dixon's novel.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
