What happens
Pilot Steve Lane is hired by the mysterious Dr. Conrad to fly him through the Yucatan jungle, ostensibly to visit Mayan ruins. Conrad's secretary, Gail Barry, reveals that the trip is really about a hidden temple and a treasure. Earlier expeditions had ended in a string of deaths, and Steve is warned by a mysterious man in a golden headband to stay away from the temple of Kukulkan. This is the Escape radio drama 'The Golden Snake,' first broadcast on April 14, 1950, with Anthony Barrett as Steve Lane, Jeanette Nolan as Gail Barry and John Hoyt as Dr. Conrad. The first part of the story sets up the premise, the warnings and the tensions between the characters as they press on toward the ruins.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
