What happens
Ken Braun, a former Navy man drifting through the waterfronts of a South Pacific port, meets Lee Zetum, a soft-spoken Oriental who offers him a partnership. Lee has acquired a small ship fitted with sonar and wants to salvage a fortune in pearls from a vessel sunk during the war off the coast of Borneo. Braun agrees to run the equipment and the diving work, and together they hire a volatile local man named Costa to crew the boat. Their partnership quickly grows strained as each man begins to distrust the other, and greed starts to shape their choices. Escape is an adventure series, and this episode aired on December 27, 1949, with Gary Merrill as Braun and Van Heflin as Lee. The story unfolds at sea and in the search for the sunken treasure.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
