What happens
Three men keep a lonely lighthouse off the jungle coast of French Guiana: Jean, the narrator, along with Louis, the head keeper, and Auguste, a talkative former actor. One morning a derelict three-master drifts toward the rock, and it is crewed by an enormous swarm of rats. The rats swarm the tower, trapping the keepers in the glass lantern room while the light's wicks run low. Auguste's mind begins to crack, and the rats gnaw their way into the upper levels. The episode is the second part of George Toudouz's tale 'Three Skeleton Key' on the series Escape, which aired November 15, 1949, with William Conrad as Louis.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
