What happens
Escape presents Flood on the Goodwins, written by David Devine, first broadcast on November 1, 1949. Dundas, a one-armed fisherman, and his Uncle Mac are recovering bodies from the English Channel after a sabotaged ship sank in dense fog near Dover. A mysterious tall man arrives offering a large sum to be carried secretly across to Belgium, and when Mac refuses to comply, he is forced aboard at gunpoint. Dundas and his wife Mary find themselves trapped on a small boat with the stranger, who seems calm and dangerous. The cast includes Jack Edwards as Dundas, Will Gere as Uncle Mac, and Barton Yarborough as the Nazi.
The English Channel near Dover and the Goodwin Sands, England, during wartime, in heavy fog
Characters: Dundas, Uncle Mac, Mary, The Nazi agent
Listen for: The tension aboard the fishing boat as the stranger's true intentions become clear, and how Dundas handles the situation with his one arm
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
