What happens

Theo Martinez, a cafe owner in Havana trying to live honestly, is drawn into a theft. An American tourist has lost a valuable emerald, and police lieutenant Molina asks Theo to help recover it. Theo is soon approached by two strangers who offer a smuggling deal and want his help moving the stone, while his friend Maru, a boat owner in the smuggling trade, also needs his assistance. Theo's debts and his plans to marry Amalia press on him as the scheme grows more complicated. The Escape series presents this 1949 episode, adapted from Burnham Carter's story Night in Havana, with Tony Baratostillo and Alan Reed in the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
