What happens

Gerald O'Hara, a broke American in Shanghai, tracks down Mark Ramsgate, a private investigator who owes him money, and learns of a half-million dollars in gold tied to General Yang and his business agent George Martell. O'Hara and Irene Mallory make a deal with Martell to help him escape the city with the money, and they plan the exit by sea. The episode is from the Escape series, first broadcast on April 16, 1949, starring Bill Conrad as O'Hara. Based on Charles Booth's novel and adapted for radio by Walter Newman, the story develops a tense web of double-dealing among the characters in the harbor city.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
