What happens

Chris Warner, played by John Lund in the series Escape, has journeyed deep into the Venezuelan jungle to capture a bushmaster, one of the deadliest snakes in the world, for a museum. Back aboard the liner, he persuades Captain Wood to carry the snake to New York in a heavy chest kept in the captain's cabin. During a rough storm the chest is smashed open, and the snake vanishes somewhere on board. Officers and crew search the ship while passengers grow frightened, and Warner dreads what he may find. The episode first aired on March 13, 1949.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
