What happens
Gregory Mayat boards the Orient Express at Austin in 1932, bound for Istanbul. He meets a young chorus girl, Carol Musker, after a collision on the platform, and soon a fellow passenger, Dr. Zinner, is holding a gun in his compartment. Mayat finds himself caught between Zinner's claims about a political exile's mission and a suspicious conductor-like stranger, Joseph Grundlich, who shadows the group through the night. The episode is part of the Escape series, first broadcast on February 19, 1949, and adapted from Graham Greene's novel Orient Express. The story follows Mayat as the passengers' loyalties shift and his companions vanish from the train.

Listen for: Listen for the gun changing hands in the night compartment, and for Miss Warren's tapping on the wall that reveals what happened to the others.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
