What happens

Billy Loring, a trapper in the Canadian North Woods, has killed a man named Thorne in a dispute over his wife Jeannie, and he flees north. Sergeant Brokaw of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police is assigned to bring him back to stand trial. The two men meet in a remote cabin during a blizzard, and Brokaw takes Loring into custody. When a fire destroys their supplies, they must cross the frozen wilderness together, forced to rely on one another to survive. Escape, the radio drama series, presents this adaptation of James Oliver Curwood's story The Match, first broadcast on May 16, 1948.

A logging camp near the southern border of Canada, then the frozen Canadian North Woods just below the Arctic Circle during a winter blizzard.

Characters: Billy Loring, Sergeant Brokaw, Jeannie, Thorne

Listen for: The moment Loring strikes the match in the snow, and the cold, wind and desperation that make the two men's survival hang on it.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
