What happens
A seasoned American oil man, Mr. Ward, boards the Taurus Express at Istanbul, bound for home, and is drawn into a tangle of spies on the Turkish night train. A young Greek woman calling herself Mary the Deadhead slips into his first-class compartment, and a conductor, Mr. Chinyara, shields her from the police. Ward meets a fellow American, Tom Hatfield, who carries a briefcase of papers and confides that he is traveling on official business. When Ward wakes to find Hatfield struck down in his compartment and the briefcase gone, he is forced into a violent confrontation in the corridor and must decide who to trust. The episode is part of the Escape series, and its first part ends with the passengers facing the police and the consequences of the night's events.
