What happens
O'Reilly, a Canadian veteran recovering from shell shock, is lost in a London fog while on his way to tea with a Red Cross girl. He stumbles upon a woman in a dark house and finds her dead on a bed. Before he can react, a man enters the house, and O'Reilly flees into the fog. Later, he meets a kindly doctor who listens to his account and offers his own views on the strange events. Escape, the 1947 radio series, presents this adaptation of Algernon Blackwood's ghostly story Confession, broadcast on December 31, 1947, with Bill Conrad as O'Reilly and Ramsay Hill as the doctor.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
