What happens
Archie, the manager of Duffy's Tavern, tries to launch a radio show starring Pierre, a singing dog, and to find a sponsor for it. His scheme quickly draws unusual visitors, and Archie's plans bring trouble when Pierre's owner, Mrs. Finnegan, comes looking for her missing dog. Pierre, who has been seen all over town, is at the centre of the mix-up. Ed Gardner leads the cast, and the episode is from the Duffy's Tavern series, broadcast in 1946 on CBS, NBC Blue and NBC.
Duffy's Tavern, a bar in New York
Characters: Archie, Duffy, Pierre, Eddie, Miss Brophy, Mrs. Finnegan, Officer Clancy, Cavendish
Listen for: Archie's attempts to sell Pierre the singing dog to a sponsor and to Cavendish, and the comic confusion over the missing dog.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
