What happens
Duffy's Tavern is a comedy series set in a shabby Manhattan bar run by Archie, the wisecracking manager, and his boss Duffy. In this January 1944 episode, guest Fred Allen arrives at the tavern, and the staff tries to recruit him for a St. Patrick's Day pig roast. Archie and Miss Duffy trade jokes and bickering with Allen, who pokes fun at the place's decor and its staff. Several songs and commercial breaks interrupt the banter. The episode features Ed Gardner, Shirley Booth, Charlie Cantor and Florence Halop in the lead roles.
