What happens
Duffy's Tavern is a radio comedy series, and this episode from December 1943 features guest Bing Crosby, who is considering buying a half interest in the bar. Archie, the narrator who runs the tavern with Eddie Finnegan, hears the offer and begins talking up the business to the crooner. Duffy, who owns the place, is off the premises, and Archie and Finnegan spar over the deal, the floor show Finnegan has written, and a gambling-tinged tangle involving a horse. Lead actors Ed Gardner and Charlie Cantor appear, alongside Shirley Booth and Florence Halop in the tavern's cast. Crosby takes part in a sketch set in a 1912 music hall, and the episode mixes music, mock-serious patter and commercial breaks.

Characters: Archie, Duffy, Eddie Finnegan, Bing Crosby, Mrs. Duffy, Jackie
Listen for: Bing Crosby's offer to buy a half interest in Duffy's, and the floor show Finnegan has written.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
