What happens
In 1770 Boston, British soldiers hunt a runaway slave named Christmas Attics, who has become a leader among the colonists resisting the king's laws. Twenty years earlier, his former master, Cyrus Brown of Farmington, placed a newspaper advertisement offering a reward for his return. Attics flees through the New England hills, is sheltered by a Quaker farmer named Abigail's father, and finds work on a whaler captained by a skipper whose brother had sent him there. Angus, the skipper, and his crew are drawn into the growing resistance, and the story follows Attics as he takes his place among the townspeople of Boston. Destination Freedom, a WMAQ radio series produced with the Chicago Defender, presents the episode, which was first broadcast on June 27, 1948.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
