What happens
The Comic Weekly Man, a jolly radio host, chats with a young girl who is happy that school is nearly over, then reads the funnies from Puck the Comic Weekly to his listeners. He reads a Beetle Bailey strip in which the private Zero copies everything Beetle does, a Roy Rogers adventure about a carnival balloon and a stolen railroad payroll, a Peter Pan story in which the children sail home from Neverland, a Flash Gordon story in which Dale joins the trip to a new planet, and a Dagwood and Blondie picnic. Donald Duck buys a parakeet, and Dick's Adventure follows a runaway horse on a river in the early days of steamboats. Rusty Riley also appears, hoping to win a job caring for a horse. The episode is first broadcast in June 1953.
A radio show for children, with stories from a comic weekly, including an army base, a carnival, Neverland, a distant planet, a suburban picnic, a pet shop, a river in the early steamboat era, and a farm.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
