What happens
The Comic Weekly Man reads the newspaper comics to his young listeners, eleven days before Christmas. He reads Little Iodine, in which the girl wakes before her operation and slips out of the hospital room, leaving her mother asleep. A nurse and doctor mistakenly take the sleeping mother to surgery instead. Next, Prince Valiant travels through the kingdom of Thule on his father's errand, and meets a druid who offers him a sacred drink. Robin Hood, wounded and recovering in the forest, hears a warning whistle. Roy Rogers and Brimstone Barlow infiltrate an outlaw hideout, where a dog seems to kill men who touch it. Flash Gordon and Queen Vicki are trapped on a mountain on Venus. Dagwood buys a talking parrot that will not speak.
Mostly comic strip worlds: a hospital, the Kingdom of Thule, Sherwood Forest, an outlaw hideout at an old mission, the jungles and mountains of Venus, a pet shop and home in the 1950s, and early America during the War of 1812.
Characters: Little Miss Patty, Little Iodine, Mrs. Trembleton, Prince Valiant, Robin Hood, Maid Marian, Friar Tuck, Roy Rogers
Listen for: Prince Valiant and the druid's sacred drink, the mysterious dog at the outlaw mission, and whether Rusty Riley's uncle finds him.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
