What happens
The Comic Weekly Man reads the funnies from Puck the Comic Weekly to a young listener, Little Miss Honey, who is back at school. The first strip is Hopalong Cassidy, where telegraph workers camp near an abandoned stockade while outlaws Black John and Glint Eye watch them from its walls, and Hoppy is locked in a dungeon. Next come Prince Valiant, who travels with Gawain across Britain toward Gawain's family castle, and Blondie, where Cookie gets a sprinkling can stuck on her head. The reading also includes Roy Rogers, Flash Gordon, Alice in Wonderland, Dick's Adventures, and Rusty Riley, with the story of each strip carried only as far as the broadcast reaches.
A house where the Comic Weekly Man reads the comic strips aloud, with the stories set in the American West, Arthurian Britain, a space platform near Mars, Wonderland, the early United States Navy, and a horse-racing farm.
Characters: Comic Weekly Man, Little Miss Honey, Hopalong Cassidy, Black John, Glint Eye, Prince Valiant, Gawain, Blondie
Listen for: The Comic Weekly Man's cheerful introductions and the spoken captions and dialogue of each comic strip as he reads them aloud.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
