What happens
George Burns and Gracie Allen prepare dinner for their sponsor, Mr. Charles Mortimer, who is in town from the coffee company. Gracie fusses over George's tie and sets up secret signals to make sure the guest eats well, while George plans jokes and imitations for after dinner. Meredith Wilson suggests George sing for Mortimer, and George considers performing his old vaudeville number. Gracie shows more interest in impressing the sponsor than George does, and she recruits helpers from the neighborhood to play along with her plan. The guest arrives for dinner, and the evening begins with cocktails and conversation about business. This Maxwell House Coffee program starred George Burns and Gracie Allen and aired on CBS and NBC Radio on February 14, 1946.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
