What happens

Emily Vanderlip, a teenager staying with George and Gracie Burns while her parents are away, is dating a young man named Rudy. Gracie discovers Emily's diary and concludes that Rudy is the singer Rudy Vallee. George and Gracie agree that Emily's father, a Yale man, should talk to Rudy, but the Burns decide to make a visit themselves. Their plan to get Rudy to end the romance quickly becomes a series of mix-ups, including a visit from a man in a raccoon coat and beanie who is convinced he is a Yale graduate. The episode is a Maxwell House-sponsored comedy broadcast in 1949 on CBS and NBC Radio, starring Gracie Allen and George Burns, with Bea Benaderet and Mel Blanc in the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
