What happens
George Burns comes down with a cold and is left in bed at home while Gracie Allen tries to arrange for someone to watch him so she can attend a Beverly Hills Uplift Society pageant that evening. Gracie hopes to find a babysitter or a grandmother to sit with him, and a visiting guest, Marlene Dietrich, becomes involved in the plans. Gracie wants to keep George from going out alone and worries about the pageant, in which she has a part as a cat that turns into a butterfly. The household becomes busy with remedies, mix-ups and attempts to keep the evening under control.
The Burns home in Beverly Hills, on an evening when George is ill in bed and Gracie is due at a club pageant.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
