What happens

Walter Pidgeon moves in next door to George Burns and Gracie Allen, and Gracie is delighted to have a movie star as a neighbor. George, a sponsor-minded husband, tries to pitch Swan soap to Pidgeon, and Gracie keeps trying to borrow an egg from him. Pidgeon accepts a dinner invitation, and the household's guests and sponsor interruptions keep the visit lively. Later Pidgeon arrives with a recruiting request aimed at Tootsie, a neighbor who is eligible to join the Waves, and Gracie's reactions add to the confusion. The series is Burns and Allen, first broadcast on November 16, 1943, with Gracie Allen and George Burns in the leading roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
