What happens
George Burns and Gracie Allen host guest Frank Sinatra in this 1943 Burns and Allen episode from the CBS and NBC radio run. Gracie fears Sinatra's popularity with women will push her husband out of the spotlight, so she visits him to tell him George is replacing him as the nation's top crooner. Sinatra is charmed by her, and Gracie agrees to a singing contest broadcast before an audience. Their rivalry escalates from there, with Gracie claiming George is the better singer while Sinatra and George trade performances. The guide stops at the set-up of the contest.
The Burns home, Sinatra's house, and a CBS studio where the singing contest is staged.
Characters: George Burns, Gracie Allen, Frank Sinatra, Tootsie Fagwell, Bill, Felix Mills
Listen for: Gracie's insistence that George is the better singer, and the audience-judged contest between Burns and Sinatra.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
