What happens
Gracie Allen tells her husband George Burns that she hopes to start a dramatic career with the Upstairs Greek Art Theatre, run by a director named Nigel Bowlingbroke. To fund a play, The Sin of Madeline Fudnik, she needs twenty-five dollars, and she turns to the laundry, the shirts and the household's money worries. Her scheme leads her to recruit the actor Brian Donlevy as a possible leading man. The episode is a 1943 installment of the Burns and Allen radio series, first broadcast on CBS and NBC, with Gracie Allen and George Burns in the lead roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
