What happens

Gracie Allen takes a holiday job at a department store to earn her own Christmas money, despite George Burns's objections. Her store manager, Mr. Gordon, hires her after a brief and odd interview. Working in the glassware department, she breaks dozens of glasses and then finds herself in trouble again. Meanwhile George keeps turning up at the store, trying to take her home. The episode is part of the Burns and Allen series, which aired on CBS and NBC Radio, with Gracie Allen and George Burns as the leads. It first aired on December 19, 1946.

Listen for: Gracie's literal-minded answers to Mr. Gordon's questions and George's attempts to take her home from the store.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
