What happens
George and Gracie Burns decide to make friends with their neighbors after gas rationing keeps them home. Gracie visits the house of a Mr. Trelofast under a false pretext, and George joins in with a plan of his own to win neighborly favor. Their attempts lead to a series of awkward calls, from a sharp-tongued woman who refuses to lend coffee to a stranger who trades jokes at the door. The couple later hosts a get-together, which goes poorly. The episode is a comedy from the Burns and Allen series, first broadcast on CBS and NBC Radio on December 8, 1942, with Gracie Allen and George Burns in the leading roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
