What happens
Susan, the owner of the Hillsdale Morning Star, and her reporter George Harvey are struggling as the paper's circulation falls. Susan spends her time with the children of the local children's home, and when George proposes an Arabian Nights promotion, he hopes the whole town will take part and play mother and father to the orphans. The campaign draws George closer to the children, especially Rodney and Jocelyn, while a gunpowder experiment and a misprinted story add complications. The episode is part of the Bright Star comedy series starring Irene Dunn as Susan and Fred MacMurray as George, and the guide is drawn from a partial transcript of the broadcast.
Hillsdale, a small town; the offices of the Hillsdale Morning Star, the Hillsdale Children's Home, and Susan's house
Characters: Susan, George Harvey, Sammy, Rodney, Jocelyn, Laura, Fire Chief Hagadorn
Listen for: George's plan for an Arabian Nights promotion, the gunpowder experiment, and the mix-up over the mayor's quotation
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
