What happens

Sergeant Blair of the Royal Northwest Mounted Police hears from Hudson Bay Factor Angus McGregor about a strange case. Corporal Leslie has gone missing from Bear Creek, and Indians say ghosts took him north. In England, his mother, Lady Danbury, dreams of her son under a strange overhanging rock, and she and Lord Danbury travel to Canada to search for him. A local man, Joe, recognises the rock in her sketch as the entrance to Fire Valley, a warm region in the Arctic. Blair sets out with his men, Mike and Joe, to reach the valley through the difficult country. The episode is the first of the Blair of the Mounties series, which dates from 1938-01-31 and stars the lead actors of the series.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
