What happens

Lou Costello, in a comic episode of the Abbott and Costello radio series first broadcast on December 10, 1947, decides to open a bank account and is sent to a bank with a small sum of money. Bud Abbott plays the straight man who takes him there, and the scene quickly turns to confusion over the deposit, the account forms, and the amount Lou actually has. The episode is built around Lou's running gags with Abbott, and it also touches on his romantic schemes, his uncle Mike, and a visit to a psychiatrist. Connie Haines and Elvia Allman appear in the cast, and the program is carried by NBC and ABC. The recording is partial, so the guide describes only the opening stretch of the show.

Hollywood, California, at a radio studio and then a bank

Characters: Lou Costello, Bud Abbott, Susan Miller, Uncle Mike, Aunt May

Listen for: Lou's attempt to deposit his money at the bank and the confusion over how much he has

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
